Christmas Juneau Update
Greetings from the Great North and Merry Christmas!! I hope everyone is doing well and enjoyed a great Thanksgiving and more importantly getting ready for Christmas!!
We had our first snowfall while I was visiting Southern Illinois in October. While the snow was gone when I got back, the colder temps are here to stay. It was quite the system shock to go from the 70’s in the morning in southern Illinois to 30’s by evening in Alaska. Right after Thanksgiving we had a pretty significant snow event bringing us around 20 inches of snow. It was pretty fun to have the snow, but right after it finished snowing it warmed up to over 40 degrees and rained for a week. There is still a little bit of snow left but not much, though we are supposed to get some more snow this week =!
My Thanksgiving was busy with two invitations to feasts—one with a coworker and his family and another with my neighbor. Sure was enjoyable and a lot different than last year when I was by myself. We have had the final board meeting of the year (No more business dress for a bit!.) and we have had our company Christmas party complete with ugly sweater contest and white elephant gift exchange.
There hasn’t been a whole lot of adventuring lately— a couple of hikes and a trip to the gun range with a friend. Though that adventure was delayed for a few hours as walked out of my apartment and discovered had a flat tire. That had to be handled before the gun range adventure commenced. I am hoping to find some fun adventures to partake in this winter that will be different and exciting (and most importantly that can be done in the dark).
Christmas also came a bit early for me in the form of a new “toy”. I decided to save up and get myself a drone for my Alaskan adventures and took it out for its maiden flight this past weekend. I don’t have a whole lot of pictures to show yet, but as I get more practice flying I plan on sharing some of the amazing (hopefully) photos I take.
As December progresses, I hope everyone has a safe and blessed Christmas, that 2025 will be filled with God’s richest blessings for you and I look forward to seeing everyone on my next journey to Southern Illinois (which is already in the works).
